About the Role
The Housing Application Technician (HAT) is a data and quality-control focused role that supports
the operations of the Bay Area Housing Finance Agency’s (BAHFA) Doorway Housing Portal (DHP).
This position is well suited for someone who is highly detail-oriented, enjoys reviewing and
auditing data with precision, and can identify and correct misinformation with accuracy.
The position is 100% remote and work-from-home.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and audit applicant data submitted through the Doorway Housing Portal.
- Identify missing, inconsistent, or incorrect information and apply quality-control standards.
- Correct data issues in alignment with established policies and procedures.
- Document decisions, notes, and corrections clearly within internal systems and trackers.
- Collaborate with the HousingINC team to ensure that application processing timelines are met.
- Escalate complex or unusual cases to senior team members as needed.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Knowledge of multi-family affordable housing programs in California.
- Experience working with applicant files, compliance documentation, or housing portals.
- Strong attention to detail; enjoys data cleanup and quality-control work.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with clear deadlines.
- Proficiency with office software (Excel/Google Sheets, PDF tools, etc.).
- Excellent written communication and record-keeping skills.
Schedule, Interviews & Training
- Standard work schedule will align with Pacific Time business hours.
- First round of interviews will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, November 18 at 5:00 p.m.
- Anticipated start date is the first week of December, with the possibility of in-person training in San Francisco.
